UGC allocates Tk 320m fund to 19 universities

The University Grants Commission allocated Tk 320.14 million supplementary fund to 19 public universities against 48 sub-projects completed earlier under the rounds of 1, 2 and 3.

An agreement, in this regard, was inked between UGC and the concerned universities at its auditorium at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Monday, said a press release.

Md Khaled, UGC secretary, signed the agreement on behalf of the UGC, the regulatory and granting authority to public sector universities of Bangladesh.

UGC chairman professor Abdul Mannan, who was present on the occasion as the chief guest, urged the sub-project managers (SPM) to implement the fund properly.

The universities which inked the agreement include - Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Jagannath University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Comilla University, Sylhet Agricultural University, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University.

Professor Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, member of UGC chaired the function while Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, NDC, project director (additional secretary) of HEQEP was present as special guest.

Ajit Kumar Debnath, senior procurement officer (joint-secretary), HEQEP delivered the address of welcome.

Vice-chancellors, sub-project managers of the concerned universities and high officials from UGC and HEQEP, among others, were present on the occasion.
