The four missing students of Ahsanullah Science and Technology (AUST), who were swept away by a strong tide while taking bath off the coast of Saint Martin’s Island in Teknaf on Monday, could not be found till 10:30am of Tuesday. The rescue operation is still ongoing.
Two other students died as they drowned in the bay near Saint Martin Island in Cox's Bazar at about 2:00pm on Monday. The deceased are Mofizul Islam Evan, 23, and Saddam Hossain Ankur, 23.
The missing students are Uday Mahmud, Shahriar Kabir Noman, Sabbir Hossain and Golam Rabbi Bappi.
Three students namely Faysal, Ashik, Farhan and Iftekhar Mahmud were rescued and sent to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex. Later they have been transferred to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Saint Martin Coast Guard Station commander lieutenant Shahid Al Hassan told Prothom Alo a team of navy divers, coast guard, police and local authorities are searching for the missing students.
