Describing the proposed national budget for 2018-19 fiscal year as a pro-people one, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said BNP criticised it without knowing anything, reports UNB.
"This is not an election-oriented budget but a pro-people one. Decision will be taken about what should be there in the budget and what should be dropped following discussions. BNP always opposes it knowingly or unknowingly," he said.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was talking to reporters while visiting the Meghna Bridge toll plaza and ferry ghat in Sonargaon upazila.
He, however, admitted that it will be a big challenge for the government to implement the budget.
At the directive of prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Quader said ferry services will be introduced at Meghan-Gomti rivers from 12 June to make the journey of homebound people safe ahead of Eid.
