Dhaka South City Corporation has started an eviction drive at Sun Moon Star Tower opposite Bangabhaban in the capital.
The eviction drive began on Tuesday afternoon.
Dhaka South City Corporation chief executive officer, Ansar Ali Khan, told Prothom Alo the building was built without any permission of authority concerned. Though the building was approved for only 23 storeys, it is 29 storeys now. City Corporation also owned 5 floors of the building. The corporation will take over those floors.
Ansar Ali Khan also said that Daily Bartaman's editor Mizanur Rahman is the owner of the building, on the second floor of which the newspaper's office is housed. The newspaper office was given two hours for shifting their goods. Mizanur Rahman is in police custody.
