TIM Fazle Rabbi, a BNP-led 20-party alliance candidate for Gaibandha-3 constituency, passed away due to old age complications at a city hospital early Thursday, reports UNB.
Fazle Rabbi was 84 and breathed his last around 3:30am at a hospital in Dhaka. He was suffering from various diseases including bronchitis and high blood pressure.
He left behind his wife, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
Born in Talukjamira village in Palashbari upazila, Fazle Rabbi was elected MP from Jatiya Party from Gaibandha-3 constituency for six times in 1986, 1988, 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2008.
Shafiul Islam Swapan, former president of Sadullapur upazila unit BNP, said Fazle Rabbi was suffering from heart disease and could not campaign ahead of the 11th national election properly due to illness.
Few days ago, he felt chest pain while staying at his Dhaka residence and later was admitted to the United Hospital in the capital, he said.
