A case was filed with a tribunal on Tuesday against journalist Anis Alamgir under Section 57 of the ICT Act for his 'derogatory' comments about Hindu goddess Saraswati, reports UNB.
Sushanta Kumar Bose, a lawyer, filed the case with the Cyber Tribunal on Tuesday.
Judge M Saiful Islam of the tribunal ordered the Dhanmondi police station to record the complaint as FIR.
In his complaint, Sushanta alleged that Anis Alamgir in a Facebook post on 22 January described Saraswati as a symbol of sex in a bid to spread religious hatred and communal provocation, and create an unstable situation. "He hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu through his post," the complainant said.
