It’s now a matter of only some procedure only to make Faridpur a division, expatriates welfare and overseas employment minister Khandakar Mosharraf said on Friday.
He pointed out that the proposal towards this end that has been approved by parliament cannot be cancelled.
The minister said this while unveiling a quarterly magazine 'Proshashon Barta' at his home in Badarpur of Faridpur town.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina told parliament on Wednesday that the government was going to form three more divisions - Faridpur, Mymensingh and Comilla.
Dwelling on development in Faridpur, the minister said some 900 acres of land has been allotted in Koijuri and Gebra union of Gazbaria Chawk area to set up an export processing zone in Faridpur.
He said a project with an involvement of Tk 94 crore has been endorsed for dredging of the Kumar river.
A University will be established in Faridpur by the end of the tenure of government, said Mosharraf.
He asked the journalists to do constructive criticism of the government for the sake of positive development.
