Massive reshuffle in police, SB and CID chiefs changed

Rangpur Metropolitan Police commissioner Md Moniruzzaman and Rangpur range DIG Md Abdul Baten have been relieved of jobs.

Additional IGP and special branch of police chief Monirul Islam has been attached to the police headquarters.

DIG of railway police Md Shah Alam has been given the charge of special branch of police.

A large number of changes are carried out today, Tuesday. The home ministry and Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday issued separate gazette notifications in this regard.

DMP deputy commissioner (DC) and 28 police officers with status of police super (SP) of different districts have been changed. A police officer with status of additional SP has also been changed.

Additional IG Md Toufiq Mahbub Chowdhury has been made chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PIB). Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Mohammad Ali Mia has been attached to the police headquarters.

Additional DIG at the police headquarters, Anwar Hossain, has been transferred to the specialised training centre in Khagrachhari.

Besides, seven officers with status of additional DIG have been transferred.

Five officers with additional deputy-commissioner of DMP have been posted as acting deputy police commissioner.

ADC Mohammad Osman Gani has been made acting deputy commissioner (logistics), ADC Md Asfiquzzaman Akthar now acting deputy commissioner at DMP headquarters and the administration, ADC Pratush Kumar Majumdar acting deputy commissioner at Mirpur division, ADC Md Raqib Khan acting deputy commissioner at Traffic Mirpur division and ADC Md Zia Uddin Ahmed acting deputy commissioner transferred to detective Gulshan division.

Beside, 18 police inspectors including some OCs in Dhaka have been transferred.

After Sheikh Hasina's resignation from the post of prime minister and leaving the country on 5 August, the interim government was formed on 8 August. Many police stations were damaged. Members of the police went into hiding.

Traffic police resume duties from 12 August.

Out of 639 police stations, 828 have resumed activities. Adviser for the home ministry affairs, Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain asked all police members to join office by Thursday.

After the fall of government, top posts of police are changed. Md Moinul Islam was appointed as IGP on 7 August.
