Former president Shahabuddin critically ill: Physician

Former president Shahabuddin Ahmed has fallen ill critically.

He has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. A close relative of the former president confirmed this to Prothom Alo.

The relative said Shahabuddin Ahmed was admitted to the hospital around a week ago.

The 92-year former president has been suffering from various old age complications. Physicians have said that he is in a critical condition.

He has been undergoing treatment at the critical care unit (CCU).

Former chief justice Shahabuddin Ahmed led the caretaker government after the fall of Ershad.

He was made president when Awami League came to power in 1996.
