Dhaka strongly condemns the act of burning the holy Quran by a far-right activist on Saturday in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, capital of Sweden.
A press release was issued by the foreign ministry to this end on Sunday.
The press release said Dhaka also expressed concern over the act of insulting the sacred values of the Muslims all over the world in the guise of ‘freedom of expression’.
Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and Bangladesh believes the freedom of religion must be upheld and respected under any circumstances, it read.
Bangladesh urged all concerned to refrain from unwarranted provocation for the sake of harmony and peaceful coexistence, the press release added.
