Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said the Padma Bridge would be opened on 25 June to directly connect the south-western region of the country with the capital Dhaka, reports BSS.
Emerging from a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said the PM would open the bridge for traffic on that day.

He was talking to newspersons in front of Gonobhaban, the official residence of the Prime Minister.
“The bridge will be named after the river Padma. . . not after any member of the family of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” Quader said replying to a question.
