Hearing on the BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul's bail petition has been deferred.
Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge court acting judge Foysal Bin Atik fixed 22 November for the next bail hearing.
The court's additional public prosecutor Taposh Kumar Paul confirmed this to Prothom Alo.
Taposh Kumar Paul said Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge court chief public prosecutor Abdullah Abu fell sick all of a sudden. As a result, an appeal was made to defer the bail hearing. Then Fakhrul's lawyers protested this.
After hearing the statements of both sides, the court fixed the new date.
Speaking to Prothom Alo, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's lawyer Masud Ahmed Talukder said, "We expect we will get justice from the court."
On 2 November, Mirza Fakhrul's lawyers filed this bail petition at the metropolitan sessions judge court.
The court fixed Monday for the bail hearing.
Mirza Fakhrul is in jail on charges of attacking the residence of the chief justice.
He was arrested on 29 October.
Later, a bail petition was filed at Dhaka's chief metropolitan magistrate court.
The court on that day passed an order to send him to jail rejecting the bail petition.
Mirza Fakhrul's lawyer Syed Joynul Abedin that day said the BNP secretary general is unwell. He has been implicated in this case for political harassment.
