Bangladesh president M Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Lata Mangeshkar, one of the most revered singers of the Indian sub-continent, reports BSS and UNB.
In a condolence message, the head of the state prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
In her message prime minister Sheikh Hasina said, “A great vacuum has been created in the sub-continent’s musical arena at the demise of the Empress of Music.”
The prime minister said Lata Mangeshkar will remain alive forever in the hearts of the people in the region through her works.
She prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Lata Mangeshkar, who sang tens of thousands of songs in her lifetime, has breathed her last at the age of 92.
