Rahsaan Noor's yet-to-be-widely-released film, 'Bengali Beauty', is expected to be premiered in China next year.
If everything goes right, 'Bengali Beauty' will be the first Bangladeshi film released in China, said director Rahsaan.
The film, dubbed in Mandarin as 'Manjala Mei Nu', will be presented in China by Xini Media which has around 3,000 theatres there.
"Releasing a film in China is not easy as the country allows only 36 foreign films for screening every year. Of them, most are Hollywood movies and only a few are from Bollywood," Rahsaan told Prothom Alo.
When asked how it happened, the director said China's international cultural exchange minister invited him after watching his interview on NBC.
The release of the film in China was finalised in a meeting between Rahsaan and the Chinese minister on 4 September, he added.
Acted by Mumtaheena Chowdhury Toya and Rahsaan Noor, ‘Bengali Beauty’ was released in only one Bangladeshi cinema hall in July last. But, the film is set to be released countrywide on 21 September by Jaaz Multimedia.
'Bengali Beauty' was also released in 20 cities of USA and will be screened in Canada and UK too, said Rahsaan.
