Sweltering heat, rain likely across 4 divisions

Following two consecutive spells of low-pressure systems, rainfall has eased, leading to increasingly humid conditions across the country. Although scattered showers were recorded in parts of the country, including the capital, yesterday, Friday, they did little to relieve the heat.

Similar weather is expected today, Saturday, with rain likely in several areas. However, temperatures are unlikely to fall despite the showers.

In its 24-hour weather forecast issued at 6:00 pm on Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said many places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience rainfall today, Saturday.

Meanwhile, a few places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.

The department also forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in isolated parts of the country. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on Sunday.
