Shakib kicks, breaks, uproots stumps as umpire turns down LBW appeal

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan kicked and broke the stumps at a Dhaka Premier League match on Friday after umpire Imran Parvez turned down an leg before wicket (LBW) appeal.

The incident happened at a match between arch-rivals Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting.

Shakib was bowling against Abahani’s Mushfiqur Rahim in the fifth over of the innings and kicked the stumps as soon as the umpire refused to concede to his appeal.

Incensed Shakib then himself uprooted the stumps once the umpire halted the match due to rain in the following over.

The ace allrounder locked into altercation with Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud on his way to dressing room. Players from two teams intervened and pulled the two apart.

Batting first, Mohammedan posted 145 for 6 in stipulated 20 overs where Shakib top scored getting 37 from 27 balls.

Abahani faced an early collapse losing 3 wickets for just nine runs. They posted 31 for five in 5.5 overs before rain stopped play.
