Football federation reduces the BPL's venue
The professional league management committee (PLMC) of Bangladesh football federation (BFF) has reduced the venues of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to four due to recent spike of Covid-19, reports BSS.
The BPL will begin from 3 February.
The PLMC earlier decided to host the BPL matches at seven venues across the country including Dhaka, but the league committee in an emergency meeting today (Saturday) took the decision to host the league's matches at four venues in Dhaka and its adjoining stadiums where the matches will be held without spectators.
The four venues are: Bashundhara Sports complex, Birshreshtha Shaheed Motiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi and Bangladesh Army Stadium.
PLMC's chairman and BFF's senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, presided over the meeting which held at BFF Bhaban.
Bangladesh Army Stadium was not in the list of previous seven venues while Rajshahi Stadium, Sylhet District Stadium, Gopalganj Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium and Cumilla Bhasha Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium have been omitted from the list.
Murshedy informed that the league would resume at a distant venue once the Corona outbreak comes under control. Meanwhile, the logo unveiling ceremony of BPL will be held tomorrow (Sunday) at a city hotel.
