The Grand Finale of the STAR-BRACU Short Film Contest 2018 will be held at the STAR Zone of Bashundhara City in the capital on 15 March.
STAR Cineplex and BRAC University are jointly organising the third edition of the contest. This year the theme is 'Drug abuse and its prevention', said a press release.
As part of the contest, students of 11 universities uploaded their films, limited to three minutes, to the dedicated Facebook page between 25 February and 10 March.
The participating universities are BRAC University, Independent University, Bangladesh, North South University, East West University, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Military Institute of Science and Technology, United International University, University of Liberal Arts and Daffodil University.
The three best short films will be selected by a jury board comprising actress Suborna Mustafa, Afsana Mimi and filmmaker Giasuddin Selim and the Facebook users.
The jury board will mark the short films on a scale of 90 while Facebook ‘likes’ will carry 10.
The makers of three best short films will be awarded and provided with a chance to participate in an international workshop on film-making.
All the films submitted will be screened at Star Cineplex.
