10 cops, AL men hurt in Lakshmipur clash
At least 10 people including four policemen and a newsman were injured in a clash between police and ruling party men at Sadar Hospital in Lakshmipur on Wednesday morning, reports UNB.
Superintendent of police Mahatabuddin said Delowar Hossain, a local of Thakurbari area in Sadar upazila who secured bail in a case filed for trying to murder his neighbour Fazlur Rahman, also general secretary of Awami League Laharkandi, hacked Fazlur over previous enmity in the morning.
Later, Fazlur along with his supporters also attacked and hacked Delowar for vengeance, he said.
The severely injured duo was undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital in the noon while a group of AL and Jubo League men went to visit Fazlur and saw Delowar, he added.
As the AL men tried to attack the ailing Delowar, police obstructed them which triggered the clash, said the SP.
The clash between police and AL, Jubo League men injured 10 people including sub-inspector and assistant sub-inspector of Sadar police station.
Police also detained 10 people and seized ten motorcycles in this regard.
District unit Jubo League president and upazila parishad chairman AKM Salauddin Tipu denied all the allegations and said the AL men were detained over a misunderstanding.
