73 Bangladeshi Tabligh men in Delhi quarantine

As many as 73 Bangladesh nationals among over 200 foreigners have been kept in quarantine for coronavirus outbreak in India.

All of them went to India and took part in a meeting of Tabligh Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.

Markaz is the headquarters of Tabligh Jamaat.

The meeting was held from 1 to 15 March.

Moreover, about 100 Bangladeshis have been staying in various states of the neigbouring after joining in other Tabligh Jamaat gatherings there.

Various diplomatic sources in Delhi confirmed this on Saturday.

Among the Bangladeshis participating in the Nizamuddin Markaz, 42 have been kept in quarantine at Narela in North Delhi.

The rest have been kept at other quarantine centres and hospitals in Delhi.

Cases have been filed on charges of violating foreigners’ act against 12 Bangladeshis who attended the meeting at Nizamuddin Markaz. All of them are in quarantine, according to Indian news agency PTI.

Two of them have been infected with coronavirus, the agency added.

However, on Thursday, the Hindustan Times reported three Bangladeshis were infected by the highly contagious virus.

The Indian government included 960 foreigners in a black list cancelling their visas on Thursday, according to PTI.

The government also ordered heads of the police across the states including Delhi to trace all the foreigners who attended the meetings of Tabligh Jamaat across India.

The law enforcement was asked to take legal actions against the participants under the Foreigners’ Act and Disaster Management Act.

Six people, who participated in the meeting at Nizamuddin Markaz, died at Telengana.

Among the 1,500 people participating in the congregation, 981 have been identified, according to The Hindu and India Today.

Hundreds of Kashmiris reportedly joined in the gathering.
