9 Bangladeshis rescued while being trafficked to India

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued nine Bangladesh nationals who were being trafficked to India through Sadipur frontier in Benapole of Jahore on Friday, reports UNB.

Among them, five are women and two children. The rescued are from different parts of Faridpur, Narail and Bagerhat districts.

Tipped off, a team of BGB-49 battalion conducted a raid in the area and rescued the nine people in the morning, said Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB-49.

They were handed over to Benapole port police station.

However, none was arrested as the traffickers managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of the border guards.
