DU student ‘commits suicide’ in campus

A student of Dhaka University (DU) allegedly committed suicide jumping off the rooftop of the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) building on Saturday evening.

The deceased is Tanvir Rahman, an evening MBA student of the 26 batch of Accounting Department.

Proctor Golam Rabbani told Prothom Alo that Tanvir took admission at the university in 2014.

Assistant proctor Akram Hossain told Prothom Alo that CCTV footage shows the student jumped off the rooftop of MBA building.

The incident is likely to be a suicide as no one was near him while he jumped, assistant proctor added.

Witnesses said, some students immediately took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where physicians declared him dead.
