Ex-MDs, GMs of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company summoned
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday issued a notice summoning five former managing directors (MD) and three former general managers (GM) of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Limited (BCMCL) for interrogation.
ACC public relation officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said the ex-MDs and GMs have been summoned asking them to be present at ACC office on Monday and Tuesday.
The ex-MDs are - Khursidul Hasan, Kamruzzaman, Md Aminuzzaman, Md Sirajul Islam Chowdhury and Md Mahbubur Rahman.
And the former GMs are - Mir Abdul Matin, Md Saiful Islam, and Mizanur Rahman.
Barapukuria Coal-fired Thermal Power Plant has been shut down for mysterious disappearance of huge volume of coal.
The disappearance of coal came to light on 22 July, when a team from Power Development Board visited the coal mine and found that there was no adequate reserve of coal in the yard of the mine.
As per the official investigation, the stock was found to have a shortage of 148,000 tonnes of coal.
A case was filed with Parbatipur police station on 24 July against 19 officials. The case was later transferred to the Anti-Corruption Commission for investigation.
