It's not finished yet, Joy Bangla: Badrul

The expelled Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader who earlier attempted to kill Sylhet college girl Khadija Begum, Badrul Alam shouted 'Joy Bangla' in reaction to the life term sentence he was given.
A Sylhet court on Wednesday convicted the former BCL joint general secretary of its Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit. The BCL is the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL).
Khadija Begum, 23, daughter of Masuk Miah of Biswanath upazila, was indiscriminately hacked by Badrul Alam while she was returning home from the college on 3 October 2016.
Badrul attacked Khadija allegedly after her refusal to a proposal for having a love affair with him.
The brutal incident stirred the entire nation as video footage of the hacking went viral on the social media, prompting the ruling Awami League’s student wing to expel Badrul from the organisation.
Although Badrul remained silent standing on the dock during the pronouncement of the verdict, he shouted while coming down the stairs after the verdict and said everything hadn’t ended after the verdict.
“Born in Bengal, will die in Bengal; here is not the end. Joy Bangla...” shouted Badrul before the police whisked him away to the prison van.
Badrul also chanted the slogan, Joy Bangla, earlier standing on the dock of Sylhet chief metropolitan magistrate on the day of framing the charge against him and on the last day of recording the statement during depositions.
The court’s additional public prosecutor Mahfuzur Rahman told Prothom Alo, Badrul had sought permission from the court on 26 February for saying something.
“I want to say something. Please let me give a chance. I will speak the truth. I was a teacher. I am a soldier of Bangabandhu [Sheikh Mujibur Rahman],” said Badrul shortly after Khadija’s deposition had ended in the chief metropolitan magistrate court.
But the court hadn’t allowed him speaking, saying, “The court is not a place for delivering speech.”
After the court’s refusal, Badrul wept for some while. Later, Badrul loudly said, “Be happy, Khadija. There is Allah, the supreme judge. Let me be hanged.”
