Noted journalist and international affairs analyst Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury was remembered with due respect on Wednesday on his 3rd death anniversary.

Journalist Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Trust organised a remembrance meeting marking his 3rd death anniversary at the Jatiya Press Club in the city, reports UNB.

Speaking at the programme, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed said Jaglul Ahmed was a very modest person with great qualities and there is a lack of journalists like him in the society in these days.

He is the star of the journalist community, the minister observed.

If Jaglul Ahmed wanted, he could do a high level government job as his father was a minister but he had chosen journalism and practiced it with honesty till his demise, said the minister.

Food minister Qamrul Islam said Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury Memorial Trust will collect and publish all his writings.

More initiatives will be taken to observe the death anniversary of Jaglul Ahmed every year, added the minister.

Terming Jaglul a lively person, the Daily Star editor Mahfuz Anam said he is an example of honest and idealistic journalism.

The Daily Sangbad editor Khandakar Moniruzzaman said Jaglul Ahmed was a professional journalist and a qualified writer.

Jatiya Press Club president M Shafiqur Rahman and Bhorer Kagoj editor Shyamal Dutt, among others, spoke at the occasion.

Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, former managing director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the state news agency, died in a tragic road accident on 29 November 2014 in Dhaka.
