Kader Siddique to contest Tangail-4 by-polls

Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) president Abdul Kader Siddique and three other leaders of the party on Sunday submitted nomination papers to contest the Tangail-4 by-election scheduled for 10 November, reports UNB.
Kidder Siddique’s wife Nasrin Siddique along with party leaders and activists submitted the nomination papers to the Kalihati upazila returning officer, said a press release.
The three other KSJL leaders who filed nominations are Nasrin Siddique, party joint secretary Iqbal Siddique and Kalihati unit party president Hasmat Ali.
The parliamentary seat-133 (Tangail-4) remains vacant since 1 September as sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique, elder brother of Kader Siddique, quit his parliament membership on 1 September.
The former posts and telecommunications minister was dropped from the cabinet and stripped off his membership of the ruling Awami League in October last year amid a wave of criticisms following his derogatory remarks on Islam, its Prophet Muhammad (SWM), hajj and Tablighi Jamaat in the USA last year.
A total of 19 aspirants collected the nomination forms to contest the election.
Meanwhile, the ruling Awami League named Hasan Imam Khan Sohel Hazari as its candidate for contesting the by-polls.
