The country’s largest Eid prayer gathering at Sholakia was held peacefully.

The prayers began at 10:00am with over a hundred thousand devotees coming from different parts of Bangladesh and from abroad 2-3 days ahead of Eid to attend the historic Eid jamaat at the Sholakia Eidgah.

It was the 190th Eid jamaat at the Sholakia grounds. The jamaat began following the customary blank fire at 10am.

Chairman of Islahul Muslimeen Council and President of Jamaat-e-Ulema Maulana Md Fariduddin Masud conducted the Eid prayers this year. A special munajat was also be offered seeking divine blessings for peace, development and welfare of the people of the country as well as Muslim Ummah.

Against the backdrop of the last year’s militant attack on the Eid gathering in Sholakia, the government has taken unprecedented security measures for the country’s largest Eid congregation. The devotees were searched before they entered the ground in four phases, to avoid any untoward situation. They were allowed only to carry their prayer mats. The police, RAB, BGB and other secuirty forces were vigilant on the occasion.
