A Member of Parliament, speaking in the house, on Monday urged the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, to relieve education minister Nurul Islam Nahid of his duties.

Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, an MP of Jatiya Party - an ally of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL), made the demand while speaking on 'Point of Order', in presence of PM Sheikh Hasina.

In his speech, the MP condemned random leak of question papers in different exams, and his call for the removal of Nahid was greeted by the other MPs.

Deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah said, "The prime minister has heard the demand. She will make a decision if she feels like."

Ziauddin said, "The number of educational institutes is on the rise. More students are getting GPA 5, yet they cannot write correct Bangla or English. There are people who cannot even write a job application after passing the HSC exams."

"The education minister has asked people to take bribe in a minimal amount. How can he be in the chair after saying this? He in fact encouraged bribery when he said that. How will leak of question papers be stopped then? You will find the video on YouTube," he added.
