No headmaster in 591 govt primary schools in Sirajganj

A total of 591 government primary schools in Sirajganj district are running without any headmaster, affecting both academic and administrative activities.

Assistant teachers at those schools are serving as acting headmasters. As a result, academic and administrative activities at those institutions are facing serious setback.

Out of 1,668 government primary schools in nine upazilas, 591 posts of headmaster and 461 post of assistant teacher have remained vacant for a long time, said district primary education office.

In Sirajganj sadar upazila, the number of vacant posts of headmaster and assistant teacher are 72 and 22, in Kamarkhand upazila 22 and 29, in Kazipur upazila 94 and 87, in Raiganj 71 and 17, in Tarash 47 and 22, in Ullapara 78 and 51, in Shahjadpur 96 and 89, in Belkuchi 65 and 57 and in Chauhali upazila 46 and 87.

District primary education officer Siddique Mohammad Yusuf Reza said that they were taking steps to fulfil the vacant posts on emergency basis.
