The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday rejected the nomination papers submitted by Krishak Sramik Janata League leader Kader Siddique and her wife Nasrin Siddique to contest the by-election to Tangail-4 constituency for loan default charges.
The nomination papers of the couple — Kader Siddique and Nasrin Siddique - have been turned down, EC returning officer M Alimuzzaman told reporters around 11am.
Abdul Kader Siddique, his wife, party joint secretary Iqbal Siddique and Kalihati unit party president Hasmat Ali on Sunday submitted their nomination papers to contest the Tangail-4 by-election billed for November 10.
The parliamentary seat-133 (Tangail-4) remains vacant since September 1 as sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique quit his parliament membership on September 1.

Later on September 15, the EC fixed October 28 for the by-polls.

Meanwhile, Krishak Sramik Janata League called a daylong hartal in the district for Wednesday after rejection of their nomination papers.
