Pakistani national dies in Kashimpur jail

A Pakistani national, who was arrested in Bangladesh in connection with drug and gold smuggling case, fell sick and died in Kashimpur central jail in Gazipur early Saturday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Md Harun, 52, resident of Karachi in Pakistan.

The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

Kashimpur Jail-2 superintendent Prosanto Kumar Bonik said Harun, arrested over a case filed for drug and gold smuggling, fell sick early hours on Saturday.

Harun was rushed to hospital as he felt severe chest pain. Doctors declared him dead in the hospital, he said.

The authorities were preparing to inform the family members of the deceased through Pakistan embassy.
