President Hamid visits ancestral home in Kishoreganj

President M Abdul Hamid on Friday visited his ancestral home in Kishoreganj.

He also sought 'doa' (blessings) from the people of his village in Kishoreganj.

"I want to work for the welfare and development of the country, including the haor region which is facing frequent flashfloods," he said while addressing a post-Jumma prayer gathering at his ancestral village Kamalpur in Mithamoin upazila of the district this afternoon.

This was the first visit of Abdul Hamid to his village home in the remote area of Kishoreganj after taking oath of office as the country's president for the second consecutive term on April 24.

Expressing his shock over the recent unnatural deaths from the thunderbolts in the haor region, president Hamid prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

The president said his Jumma prayer at the mosque adjacent to his house and exchanged views with the locals seeking their 'doa' for him.

After the prayer, he offered fateha at the graves of his father Md Tayebuddin and mother Tomiza Khatun and some other relatives at Kamalpur village.

President Hamid also visited some development projects including the newly renovated building of the Mithamoin Union Council Office at Mithamoin Bazar in Kishoreganj

He spent some time there and talked to the local political and business leaders.

Local political leaders including Rezwan Ahmed Taufiq, MP, Justice Amir Hossain of High Court Division, senior civil and military officials and secretaries concerned to Bangabhaban accompanied the president.

Earlier, president Hamid arrived in Kishoreganj by a helicopter at Mithamoin Helipad Ground at about 12 noon.

He was received by political leaders, local MP and senior officials of the district administration.
