Newly appointed Jatiya Party co-chairman GM Quader and secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader have been made its spokespersons, reports UNB news agency on Monday.

Party chairman HM Ershad has given them the responsibility amid opposition by another faction of the party led by opposition leader in parliament and JP senior presidium member Raushon Ershad.

“From now on, GM Quader and ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader will speak to the media on behalf of the party,” said a party statement signed by Ershad’s press and political secretary Sunil Shubho Roy on Monday.

Any ‘isolated’ opinion, speech or statement made by anybody will not be considered as party statement, the statement said.

Earlier in a meeting on Sunday, the residium decided to withdraw the party leaders from the Awami League-led cabinet.

The meeting, chaired by hairman HM Ershad and boycotted by Raushon Ershad and those loyal to her, also decided to hold the party's national council on 16 April.
