The DNA of Gulshan Holey Artisan attack “mastermind” Bangladeshi-Canadian Tamim Chowdhury has matched with that of his family members who live in Canada.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) media and public relations division deputy commissioner Masudur Rahman told this to Prothom Alo on Tuesday.
On 27 August, Tamim and two other “militants” were killed in a special police raid, Hit Strom, at a “den of Neo-JMB” in a building in Narayanganj.
The DMP said the Canadian government took sample of Tamim’s DNA from Bangladesh to confirm the body of Tamim and conducted the matching test.
According to the police, the Bangladesh-origin Canadian, Tamim Chowdhury, was the coordinator and mastermind of the Gulshan Holey Artisan Restaurant attack that killed a total of 28 people including five militants.
However, on 4 October, Middle-East based international terrorist outfit Islamic State’s periodical Rumaiyah mentioned Tamim as the chief of its “military and clandestine attacks in Bengal.”
