Tk 10m compensation for Rajib’s family

The High Court on Tuesday issued an order to provide Tk 10 million as compensation to the family of Rajib Hasan, reports UNB.

Rajib was a student of Government Titumir College, who got his right arm lost being pressed between two buses in the city and eventually died.

An HC bench of justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and justice AKM Zahirul Hoque came up with the order.

The owners of 'Sajan Paribahan' will have to pay Tk five million while Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BTRC) the rest (another Tk five million), according to the court’s order.

Of the amount, Tk five million will have to be paid within this month and a report has to be submitted to the court after this month whether the compensation is given or not.

The court also fixed 24 June for the next hearing.

Rajib's aunt Jahanara Parvin and his two brothers were present at the court on Tuesday.

On Monday, the HC expressed shock over the tragic death of Rajib and fixed today for delivering order on compensation.

On 4 April, the court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why directives should not be given to provide Tk 10 million as compensation to Rajib Hasan.

Rajib Hossain, who lost his right hand after it got stuck between two buses at Bangla Motor area on 4 April, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on 17 April.
