The Bangladesh Nationalist (BNP) chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Tuesday said Panchagarh Hindu priest murder bears ominous signs.

Branding the murder as a manifestation of animal instinct and blind cruelty of mankind, she said, “The panic-triggering murder of the priest with a machete and injuring other priest are signs of an ominous future.”

She made the comment in a statement sent to the media signed by party’s joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

“The brutal plot started with the killing of the Italian national Cesare Tavella. Bloggers, publishers, foreign nationals, religious preachers and people from different sections have already been victims of the plot. It seems we are walking over a graveyard,” said the BNP chief in the statement.
