Five killed in head-on collision between two buses

At least five people including a child were killed in a head-on collision between two buses on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur on Sunday morning.

The deceased could not be identified immediately, said Mithapukur police station officer-in-charge Aktaruzzaman.

Twelve more people, injured in the accident that took place in Baldipukur area around 7:45am, were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, he said. “Two persons among the injured are in critical condition.”

The OC said the bus drivers fled the scene immediately after the accident.

He further said the two buses were towed at the side of the road. Fire service and police forces are at the scene. Policemen are working to take the bodies the police station, he added.
