Jagannath University student found dead in Dhaka

Police have recovered the hanging body of a student of Jagannath University from a flat in Mohanagar residential area of Dhaka’s Hatirjheel on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mehebullah Tausif, 21, son of Mohammad Mejbah Uddin, from Patuakhali. Police said he enrolled at Jagannath University.

Sources at Hatirjheel police station said Mehebullah Tausif came to Dhaka a week ago to enroll at Jagannath University. He stayed at a relative’s house at Mohanagar Project of Hatirjheel. His body was found hanging from celling fan with a scarf at a room on the fourth floor of the house.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Hatirjheel police station officer-in-charge (OC) police preliminary suspect Mehebbulah Tousif might have committed suicide over relations.

Cause of the death would be ascertained after investigation, he added.
