‘Main perpetrator’ among 4 arrested over Rampur bus fire: RAB

“Main perpetrator Monir Hossain” and his three assistants were arrested in connection with the incident of vandalising buses and setting fire to those on Rampur Bridge in the capital following the death of a student in a bus accident in the area, said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

RAB’s legal and media wing assistant director ANM Imran Khan said this on Wednesday.

He further said the four were arrested from different areas of Dhaka and Cumilla.

RAB will address a media conference about the arrests at its media centre in Karwan Bazar at 2:30pm.

On the night of 29 November, school student Mainuddin Islam was killed as a bus ran over him during the students’ movement demanding road safety, half fare in public transports and a few other demands in Rampura Bridge area in the capital.

Deceased Mainuddin Islam was a student of Ekramunnesa School and College in Rampura.

Following the incident, agitated people vandalised a few buses and set fire to those. Police filed a lawsuit over the vandalisation of buses.
