5 alleged Neo-JMB men held in Sylhet over Paltan bomb blast

Five alleged active members of Neo-JMB, an ultra-radical offshoot of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), have been arrested from Sylhet in connection with the Paltan bomb blast, reports UNB.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them on Monday night, Md Walid Hossain, deputy commissioner of DMP’s public relations and media wing, confirmed it.

The arrested are being brought to the capital, he said. However, the identities of them could not be known immediately.

The incident of the bomb blast took place in city’s Paltan area around 9.45pm on 24 July, just 200 yards away from a police check post. But none was injured in the incident.
