Police arrested four people, including a police constable, in a case filed over raping a woman in Sudharam police station compound, reports UNB.

The arrestees were identified as traffic constable Munshi Maqbul Hossain, 32, from Madla village in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district, CNG driver Md Kamrul, 25, from Nazirpur village, Abdul Mannan, 49, of Dadpur village in Sadar upazila and Nur Hossain Kalu, 30, from Anantapur village in Begumganj upazila.

Investigating officer Mizanur Rahman Pathan said the woman came to Noakhali from Dhaka on Thursday. Later, the victim met CNG driver Kamrul for financial help.

“But instead of helping her, Kamrul and his two associates - Mannan and Kalu - took her to traffic constable Maqbul. There, the woman was raped by the constable inside cook Md Kalam’s room,” added.

Confirming the matter, Shahed Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sudharam Model police station, said the victim’s mother filed a police complaint against four people on Friday.

The woman was raped inside cook Abul Kalam’s room on the police station premises on Thursday afternoon. Police arrested the four accused on the same day at night and produced them before a court on Friday. Later, they were sent to jail by the court, OC said.

“Victim's medical examination was conducted at Noakhali Medical College Hospital. The victim is now in police custody”, he added.
