Stamford University student Shahedul Islam Sifat, who was arrested following the killing of retired major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, has been picked up by plainclothesmen in front Cox’s Bazar jail gate.

He was granted bail on Monday.

Sifat was whisked off by an unnumbered microbus at the jail gate at 2:15 on Monday before he could talk with his relatives or media men present there.

Earlier, Cox’s Bazar senior judicial magistrate Tamanna Farah passed the order around 11:00am in a case filed with the Teknaf police station.

Another Stamford University student Shipra Debnath, who was arrested following the killing of retired major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan, was granted bail on Sunday.

Sifat, Shipra and another student went to Cox’s Bazar with slain retired-army major Sinha to make a travel video for a youtube channel.

Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed during police firing at Shamlapur, Cox’s Bazar on 31 July.

Police filed two cases with Teknaf and Ramu police stations and arrested Sifat and Shipra.

Both of them are students of the film and media studies department at Stamford University.
