FAO to set up 'Sheikh Mujib-Bangladesh Room' at its headquarters

Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations to set up a room at FAO headquarters in Rome titled 'Sheikh Mujib-Bangladesh Room'.

The country signed the MoU last Monday as a part of celebrating the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release from Bangladesh embassy to Rome.

Bangladesh ambassador to Italy and the FAO permanent representative Md Shameem Ahsan and FAO director Qu Dongyu signed the MoU.

State minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam attended the signing ceremony virtually. He conveyed sincere thanks to the FAO director for setting up this room.

The release reads a room titled 'Bangladesh room' will be set up at the main building of FAO headquarters dedicating the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Along with holding meetings, representatives from different member countries will be allowed to use the room as a facilitation centre.
