Gano Forum MP Mokabbir tests positive for COVID-19
Gano Forum MP Mokabbir Khan, who was admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka on Monday with breathing problem, has been tested positive for novel coronavirus infection, reports UNB.
He is now under treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the CMH, his personal secretary Mohammad Koyes Miah told the news agency on Tuesday.
Koyes said Mokabbir received the COVID-19 test report today confirming that he contracted the highly infectious virus.
He, however, said the MP’s condition has improved slightly as he has been given oxygen support. “His (Mokabbir’s) breathing problem eased slightly.”
On Monday, Mokabbir was admitted to the CMH with fever, cough and breathing problems.
Soon after his admission, the MP’s samples were collected at the CMH for coronavirus test.
Mokabbir Khan was elected MP from Sylhet-2 with Gano Forum’s ticket in the last general elections. He took oath as a member of the 11th parliament in April, 2019.
In 26 years' history of Gano Forum, Mokabbir is the only leader of the party who became MP with its ticket and symbol.
