Sheikh Moinuddin, Faiz Taiyeb Ahmad made special assistants to CA Dr Yunus

Sheikh Moinuddin and Faiz Taiyeb Ahmad have been appointed as special assistants with the status of state ministers to chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

The cabinet division on Wednesday issued a gazette notification to this end.

It says they would get status of state ministers, salaries and allowances and related benefits.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina through the student-people's uprising on 5 August, the interim government was formed on 8 August. Professor Muhammad Yunus took over as the chief adviser of the interim government. The advisory council was reshuffled and new appointments were made in the last seven months. The total advisers including the chief adviser is now 23. Among them, retired professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar (CR Abrar) has taken oath today, Wednesday. He got the charge of the education ministry.

Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud was in charge of the education ministry and the planning ministry so far. He will now be in charge of the planning ministry. The cabinet division has issued separate gazette notifications for the distribution of portfolios.

There are a special assistant (defence and national solidarity development), a special envoy (international affairs) and a high representative (Rohingya crisis and priority affairs) with status of advisers of the interim government.

There are three special assistants with status of state ministers. They are discharging duties as the special assistants at the home ministry, the health ministry and the education ministry.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Moinuddin has been made the special assistant at the transport and bridges ministry and Faiz Taiyeb Ahmad made special assistant at the telecommunications and information technology ministry.

Md Nahid Islam resigned from the post of the adviser of the interim government on 25 February. He is the convener of the new party National Citizen Party (NCP).
