Forty-one Bangladeshis returned to the country from Myanmar on Wednesday after serving their sentence in different prisons there, reports UNB.

They came back to Bangladesh through Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar following a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Myanmar’s Border Guard Police branch (BGP).

Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Khalid Mohammad Iftekhar, BGB Battalion-2 commanding officer, led the 16-member Bangladesh team during the flag meeting.

Arrangements have been made to keep the Bangladesh nationals under official quarantine with the support of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and the upazila health officer of Teknaf, BGB said.

BGP detained them on charges of crossing into Myanmar from Bangladesh illegally at different times.
