Ansar member dies at isolation unit in Barishal

A member of Bangladesh Ansar-VDP died at the coronavirus isolation unit of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College in Barishal on Friday.

The deceased, 55, was from Borhya village of Rajapur upazila in Jhalakathi.

He got admitted at the hospital on 30 April afternoon, said Md. Bakir Hossain, director of the hospital. In the night, he was shifted to the isolation unit as he showed coronavirus symptoms including breathing complications and fever, he added.

The patient succumbed to his complications on Friday morning. Samples from his body were taken to diagnose whether he actually had COVID-19, Bakir said.

Earlier, two more patients died at the isolation unit of the hospital on Thursday, the director confirmed.

According to DGHS’s Barishal division, 117 COVID-19 patients have been identified in Bairshal till 1 May. Among them, three in Patuakhali, two in Barguna and one in Barishal died.
