COVID-19 infected RMG worker flees from Narayanganj

A readymade garment worker infected with coronavirus while working in Narayanganj, fled to Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat.

After being informed, police held the 30-year-old man from his house at Dhabalsuti village in the upazila and admitted him to the isolation ward of Upazila Health Complex, said officer-in-charge of Patgram police station Suman Kumar.

The RMG worker fled Narayanganj after getting his coronavirus test report that confirmed his infection on Wednesday, he said.

He travelled along with 30 other passengers in a truck and with another 15 passengers in a microbus to reach his home town, police said.

Civil surgeon Nirmolendu Roy said they locked down the house of the worker.

Meanwhile, on Friday 1,202 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the span of 24 hours, raising the total confirmed cases to 20,065.

During the period, 15 more people died, taking the death tally to 298, according to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
