An Indian trucker and his assistant, who were marked with red lace by the administration, did not wear masks.

However, Indian truckers and their assistants were not seen nearby shops at the port.

Port manager Mainul Islam said hundreds of truckers come and it is not possible to monitor them all.

C&F Agent Association president Abdul Awal told Prothom Alo that a joint meeting was held on 25 May.

Decisions were taken to conduct health checkup of Indian truck drivers in presence of health directorate physicians and to spray trucks to free them from virus at Zero Point. It was also decided at the meeting that workers will wear masks.

Besides, another decision was made to enforce a nine-point directive to maintain health guidelines.

Abdul Awal said directives could not be fully implemented due to lack of surveillance.
