Road crash kills 4 madrasa students

Four madrasa students were killed in a collision between a bus and a truck in Konabari, Kamarkhand in Sirajganj on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Yasin Ali, 23, Ilias Hossain, 22, Khaled Hassan, 21, and Imran Hossain, 14. All of them were students of Begunbari Islamic Madrasa in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

Confirming the accident officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu bridge (west) police station Shaheed Alam said, a number of students were returning from an Islamic jalsa (programme) at Esha-e-Khadijatul women madrasa in Natore.

As the Dhaka-bound bus reached the approaching road to the west of Bangabandhu bridge in Konabari, it collided with a maize-laden truck leaving two dead on the spot and wounding 12 others, said the OC.

The injured were admitted to the 250-bed hospital in Sirajganj where two students succumbed to their injuries under treatment, said the hospital's residential physician Faridul Islam.
